Sunday night ended up to be a great Oscars for Disney-Pixar. But, I mean are you surprised. Toy Story 4 brings home another Oscar for Disney. This is the 11th time in the last 13 years that the Walt Disney Company has won the award, making them the unprecedented dominator in a single Oscar category.
This year’s features category had some solid competition, ‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’, another franchise bringing somewhat closure to it’s story line. ‘I Lost My Body’ from Netflix. ‘Klaus’ another Netflix original animated feature, that crushed it at ASIFA/The Annies, winning Best Animated Feature, and all seven categories for which it was nominated. ‘The Hidden World’ and Laika’s Missing Link.
Before the night some where still calling Pixar and it’s flagship franchise ‘Toy Story’ the underdogs. But for many it was clear Woody, Buzz and of course Forky were favorites of the Disney loving academy. Randy Newman was there to play his Oscar-nominated song ‘I can’t let you throw yourself away’ from Toy Story 4, with a stage and backdrop full of clouds.
‘Toy Story 4’ co- written and directed by Josh Cooley, has made more than $1 billion worldwide. But this should come as no shock to those who have loved and followed the characters and storyline since the release of ‘Toy Story’ in 1995.
Nielsen was joined onstage by co-writer and director Josh Cooley and producer Jonas Rivera
Josh Cooley, Mark Nielsen and Jonas Rivera then go backstage after winning an Oscar for Best Animated Feature for Toy Story 4. Still clearly in shock from being named this years winner.
Have you seen all the ‘Toy Story’ movies? Subscribers of Disney+ can now watch them ALL. You can also get more familiar with Forky from his ‘shorts’.
So, what was your favorite? Or did you just love them all!
