Universal Studios Japan – Recently Nintendo released a new Super Nintendo World update video showing us more of what we can expect when Universal Studios Japans newest attraction opens in February of 2021.
Features in the new Super Nintendo World update video show things like hitting boxes (block activity), leveling up at locations, finding hidden secrets around the park and of course keeping track of all those coins with your smart phone. The “Power-Up” wristband can be purchased separately, but seems to be a key tool in this new virtual/reality theme game experience.
There are 6 styles to choose from.

The new video shows off more of the interactive features guests can expect when visiting this new level of interactive theme park.
It was nice to see at the end of the latest release video we can have comfort knowing that hitting blocks and leveling up will be coming to Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood in the future.
As many know Epic Universe, Universal Orlandos expansion and fourth theme park in Florida was put on hold as COVID-19 takes its toll on both the tourism industry and the hospitality industry in central Florida. Although the park has not been canceled, there has been no definitive date for when construction will resume.
Epic Universe will not only be the home to Floridas Super Nintendo World but will also showcase attractions from Universals Classic Monsters. I look forward to Universal Orlandos Super Nintendo World Update to come in the next few months.
Super Nintendo World Update Opening Day Attractions
On Grand Opening day guest will get to experience two amazing attractions. Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge and Yoshi’s Adventure.
Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge
Race on Mario Kart!
Race your way to victory! Iconic Mario Kart courses have been brought to life with cutting-edge technology. Challenge enemies with shells! Aim for the finish line with Mario and Peach! The world’s first interactive Mario Kart theme park ride will leave you with a rush of adrenaline!
The AR rollercoaster runs through an amazing life-size recreation of Bowser’s castle with amazing mapping technology making the virtual transition seamless. For guest to get that full augmented reality experience, like being inside the game itself, riders will be given a headset shaped like Mario’s iconic hat. A similar example would be LEGOLANDS The Great LEGO race.

Go on a journey with Yoshi
Hang on to Yoshi as you search for Captain Toad on a treasure hunt! Use the Captain’s map to find 3 mysterious eggs! Get a spectacular view of the Mushroom Kingdom from Mount Beanpole while having fun on this ride that’s perfect for the whole family.
The Yoshi ride is similar to others you may have been on at other parks. With a always moving, long continuous loop. But unlike the ones I have ridden at other parks, this one does not show any signs of turning. So you won’t be rotated in different directions for different scenes.
Planing To Visit Super Nintendo World
If you are interested in grabbing a spot on opening day, Universal has some instructions for you to follow:
To provide the best experience, guests will need an “Area Timed Entry Ticket” or “Area Timed Entry Ticket: Advance Booking” to enter SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™.
Once in the park, get Area Timed Entry Tickets through the official app.
Timed Entry Tickets guarantee entry to a busy area at a designated time. This allows you to skip the line and enjoy the park while you wait. Timed Entry Ticket, you can enter the area smoothly without waiting in line for a long time. (free)
Or if you are like me, you like to get these things taken care of before you arrive to the park. If that’s the case you also have the option below.
Reserve your Timed Entry Tickets before entering the park
Timed Entry Ticket: Advance Bookings guarantee entry to a busy area at a designated time. This allows you to skip the line and enjoy the park while you wait.
Get the most out of your day with a Timed Entry Ticket: Advance Booking.
As a Florida resident who hates to fly, I can honestly say I’ll never make it to Universal Japan, but, I can tell you that seeing the latest Super Nintendo World update and hearing the closing statements about Universal Orlando and those other locations, ha, I am more than eager to see what Epic Universe brings us in the future. With tweaks and changes to hopefully enhance this new experience even more for when it arrives to the states, I know I won’t be disappointed when I walk through life-size warp pipe and enter a whole new world.
In the mean time I’ll enjoy watching all the videos of my friends in Japan, and know that Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and the gang will be in the Sunshine state soon enough.
