Orlando, Fla.- It’s hard to believe that May 1, 2019 Disney’s Hollywood Studios is celebrating 30 years! So, as we would expect, Disney will be celebrating this milestone all year long.
On Jan. 18, the celebrations begin with the reveal of the NEW 30th-anniversary logo. And yes, Hollywood Studios is not a stranger to name and logo changes.
Disney-MGM Studios Park opened at Walt Disney World on May 1, 1989. Originally called Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. An operating movie studio, the first filming was done there on February 2, 1988 (the television movie Splash Too). Walt Disney had originally envisioned a studio tour as part of the Disney Studio in California, but little land was available and disruptions would interrupt filming. The idea was revived in the 1980s when Disney executives decided that a third gated attraction on the Walt Disney World property would enhance the guests’ vacation experience. The guest enters the park on Hollywood Blvd., where there are shops designed after actual architecture of buildings in the original Hollywood area in California. The focal point at the end of the boulevard is a detailed reproduction of the facade of Grauman’s Chinese Theater, which originally housed the Great Movie Ride. Guests can choose to begin their visit by heading down Sunset Blvd. to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, or taking a backstage tour, or walking through various outdoor sets, experiencing the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, or many other attractions. Dining possibilities range from fast food to the Hollywood Brown Derby. On January 7, 2008, the park was renamed Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Pixar Avenue will be the place for guests to show off their inner Supers with The Incredibles.
Guests will celebrate the heroic deeds of Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible, and Frozone, who will make appearances throughout the day during a party featuring live music, dancing, interactive games, and more Super fun.
There will also get to meet the super-suit designer herself, Edna Mode, and see some of her latest and greatest creations. Guest may also spot signs for the whereabouts of the youngest Incredible – the mischievous and multi-powered Jack-Jack.
A door to the monster world will open inside Walt Disney Presents, inviting guests to visit with Mike and Sulley from Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.”
With the recent opening of Toy Story Land, based on the beloved Pixar Toy Story films, guest have been enjoying two new attractions – Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers – as well as this guys, and the fan-favorite Toy Story Mania!
In addition, the new high-energy live show “Disney Junior Dance Party!” will feature characters from Disney Junior television series, including Vampirina, Doc McStuffins and many more.
There is no doubt that 2019 will be bringing new and exciting experiences to Hollywood Studios for all its guest.
